Book List

Since September I've been keeping a list of the books I've read for two reasons.  One so that I can remember what I've read (I'm very bad at remembering titles, not to mention authors), and two I can see easily the types of books I've read.

Oh wait, there is another reason.  I've never done well with lists of books to read, so I thought a reverse list might be more useful to me.  It might be more motivating to keep a list of what I've already read, more of an accomplishment list and not a chore list.  So far, that has worked.  There's been only one problem.  I've lost my list. . . . twice.

So in order to have a permanent copy I'm creating a new widget in the side bar to keep a running list of the books I've read.  In case you're interested here is what I've read since September 2011.

  • Mt. Vernon Love Story by Mary Higgins Clark
  • An Untold Love Story by Madeline Albright
  • The Violin of Auschwitz by Maria Angels Anglada
  • Over the Earth I Come The Great Sioux Uprising of 1862 by Duane Schultz
  • The Company We Keep A Husband-And-Wife True-Life Spy Story by Robert & Dayna Baer
  • Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson

I'm impressed you have read more than a book a month. When do have time to read??? I could probably spend less time on the computer, but I've already cut my time to very little. I still don't have time to enjoy a book more than a few minutes every few days. I guess I need to re-prioritize.

Congratulations, Glenda!

Good for you, Glenda! :)
I signed up for goodreads but haven't figured out how to use it yet.

I like seeing what my friends are reading; it's always great to get more ideas. I love keeping track of what I've read. I use goodreads, but I also use my blog because I like doing reading challenges and that's the best way to keep track of those.

Melanie - one day/week I have an hour while one child is at an organ lesson and then another child at a flute lesson; another day/ week I have a half hour while another child has an oboe lesson; then two days/week I have forty minutes while two children have back-back speech therapy. Then I try to read whenever else I get the chance. Plus it helped that for one week in September I was on vacation and that enabled me a lot of reading time.

Will look into good reads, thanks Karin.

Thanks to you Jane for your post way back when that talked about how you read while cooking or waiting in the car. That insight has helped me. I now always have my book with me and pull it out whenever I have a few minutes. I'm not ready for a reading challenge, although the idea intrigues me, especially after reading George W.'s autobiography and learning about how he and what's-his-name (completely blanking at the moment) had a reading competition. For now, I'm just going to keep going this way and work my way to a challenge.

Oh and one more thing Melanie. Reading for me is my escape and way to handle all the crud. I need to read to keep my sanity.
