I Hate Shopping

I never thought I did.  I always thought "those people" just didn't know how to do it, or where to look, because shopping was always somewhat enjoyable to me.

And then I had kids, daughters even.  And I still enjoyed shopping.  There were all sorts of lovely dresses and everyday clothes easy to be found.  But then they grew up.

Now there are so few decent skirts and dresses to be found.  I Hate Shopping!

I tried today to find something for my 13 year old daughter.  All the dresses are above the knee and either short sleeve or no sleeves. Really?  It is single digit temperatures outside! All the clothes in the juniors department I do not want my daughter to wear, she is not available for hire.   Many of the clothes in the misses are too old, she is not working in an office.  I Hate Shopping!

And yet I'm going to have to go and do it again in hopes that maybe something will appear on the rack out of nowhere that will work.

I've become one of "those people."

check out land's end and L.L. Bean online, both have respectable modest clothing for kids of all ages. :)

Hanna Anderson has been having huge sales. Maybe Anna could be persuaded too. She might even have some older dresses she would be willing to part with. I don't know. She has made some pretty awesome ones lately.

Groan. Last year I told my grandma that our big girl had church dresses on her Christmas list. The lady went shopping and reported back that for seven-year-olds, only cocktail dresses were available. :P We finally cobbled together some skirts and sweaters.

Melrose - Lands' End has been my go to for kids clothes since they were little. However, my big girls now were adult sizes, and Lands' End doesn't have a lot of things that are good for their age. The one skirt my 13 year old has we bought last year at Lands' End. She was hoping to find a dress, which she likes better than skirts.

Karin - thanks just checked, and the one she liked was sold out of course. Maybe I should just ship my second oldest over to Anna next summer and have Anna give her sewing lessons. :-)

Don't despair quite yet Rebekah - Lands's End ad Hanna Anderson, although they can be quite expensive, do have delightful options for pleasant dresses. I was even to find reasonable dresses sometimes at Kohl's when they were that age. Good Luck - I feel your pain.

Another Hanna option is to call the outlets. They can and will describe things over the phone and are most helpful. You have an outlet in Minneapolis. You of course are welcome to send 13 year old our way too. :o) The help in Michigan Cities Hanna outlet has never let me down over the phone. Just a thought.....

This is for Ellie, right? Hmmmm... I can check the stash, as I was equally skinny and had some dresses, which I doubt Cecilia will ever wear.

Have you found anything yet? I'm assuming that the dress is for Christmas, so this won't help as they do not have any retail stores in your area, but Down East Basics has nice things. I've ordered before and liked what they have. Maybe for next time?
